Echoes of Care: Crafting Wymering's Living Legacy in a Model Symphony

Embarking on the task of creating a model to encapsulate my understanding of Wymering Manor proved to be a novel challenge, unfamiliar in its demand for a sensory exploration of architectural nuances. This endeavour required me to step out of my comfort zone, engaging in activities that invited a unique understanding of space. Reflecting on discussions with Sebastian and Mark, a revelation dawned upon me as I contemplated the dual nature inherent in both the dismantled furniture and the manor .

The furniture parts revealed a fascinating duality—it was crafted from particle board, a sturdy yet unremarkable material, and adorned with veneer sheets to enhance its aesthetic appeal. This parallel resonated with the enduring nature of Wymering Manor, where the passage of time took its toll on the structure, yet external beauty persisted through meticulous care. This realization sparked a deep curiosity within me, leading me to ponder the invaluable role played by the community over the years in preserving the manor's breath-taking beauty.

                 

 Intrigued by the symbiotic relationship between the manor and its caretakers, I envisioned a model that could vividly depict the essence of this connection. Two distinct layers materialized in my mind—one, a hollow box symbolizing the inherent vulnerability of the manor, and the other, a stack of layers arranged in a slanting manner, representing the diverse and layered efforts invested in its maintenance. To further amplify this narrative, I incorporated hanging balls on strings into the model. Each ball, in my conceptualization, represented different elements and I envisioned a ball as wymering manor, when slid down from the top layer interacting dynamically with the layers of community efforts. The balls, suspended in mid-air along with the ball representing the soul of wymering manor would make the most noise when coming into contact with these slanting layers, metaphorically echoing the impact of the collective endeavours put forth by the community. This audible resonance became a powerful symbol of the life breathed into the manor through the continuous dedication of the community.


        



In essence, this model became a tangible testament to the idea that Wymering Manor was not merely a static structure but a living entity sustained by the unwavering commitment of the community. It illustrated how, without the tireless efforts of people, the very essence of the manor would have faded away into the annals of time long ago. The model painted a vivid picture of the manor's breath, kept alive by the caring hands and enduring efforts of those who recognized its historical significance and sought to ensure its preservation for generations to come.
